Jay
Schlinsog has twenty years experience in community and economic
development, management, and downtown revitalization. Working as a
private consultant since 1992, his clients include local, state and
national Main Street organizations, non-profit groups and private
businesses. He established Downtown Professionals Network in 2000 as a
firm for community development, economic development and downtown
revitalization specialists who collaborate to provide planning, design,
research, and marketing services.
Jay’s
areas of specialty include management, organizational development,
market research and analysis, technical writing, public relations,
marketing, visioning, and strategic planning. He serves a clientele that
includes local, state and national downtown redevelopment and management
organizations, community development agencies, and private businesses.
He has served as project manager on a variety of projects including
urban design and downtown master plans, strategic plans, and market
research, analysis and feasibility studies. He has been retained as a
consultant and speaker by the National Trust’s National Main Street
Center and numerous regional and statewide Main Street organizations.
As a
facilitator and member of DPN’s Surviving Construction team, Jay shares first-hand experience highlighted by his
work as chairman and project coordinator for the City of St. Charles
(IL) Main Street and Bridge Reconstruction Task Force. His work with the
Task Force, and a project “Tool Kit” developed as a resource for
businesses, have been featured in a variety of regional and national
publications and have served as models for construction management
initiatives in communities across the country.
